Zack,
You're a visionary ~ I see hints of the Farrelly brothers, the Zucker brothers, SNL and many other sketch comedy forerunners, but there's something about your style that is fresh, innovative and side-splittingly funny in an original, more contemporary way. You have an excellent sense of irony, familiarity and (of course) editing consistency in the context of exploiting iconic moments in TV and film. I don't normally spend a lot of consecutive time online, but your Break.com post led me to stay up late searching for other links of your work, and then onto your website. I haven't laughed like this in quite a while, and I can't think of the last time that I 'discovered' something on my own, let alone felt compelled to share with friends and family as I have with your parodies. I expect your work to gain exponentially in popularity to the point that little to no effort is required to come across it.
Now comes the "advice you didn't ask for" part. A number of your short films leave me wanting something more... but not necessarily in the ideal sense. You have a talent for recognizing the perfect irony of a scene as it pertains to the most typical everyday context and then you masterfully superimpose it into the clip. The problem is, that you get the ball rolling beautifully, then the scene fades out before the climax, or that point where the viewer expects a punchline. I can see where you might feel that it's best to keep it short-n-sweet, but my gut reaction is that if you cap more of your clips with a 'money shot', more people will become addicted. I don't presume to know what that money shot is for each film, but I have complete confidence that you do and that you will implement that if you see fit. The best way I know how to describe it is to make as sure as possible that your last appearance or line in a short is the funniest one of the reel. End your delightful sketches with more of a "bang" in the way that only you know how to do it. I hope that makes sense.
In any case, I really enjoy what you're doing and can't wait to see more.
All the best,
SJS
